The meals that I modelled out of clay were meals that I had seen as children's ready meals when doing my research. I thought that making food out of clay and putting it in the bowl in my final piece as part of the context of the piece would be good as it would sit among the glass which represents the plastic packaging of the piece.

When I started to paint the spaghetti and meatballs to make the food look more realistic I realised that it wasn't going to work as the paint stuck the clay together and it was too fragile and would break easily. I preferred how the food looked before the paint, however, I didn't think that the grey clay would contrast well with the glass and clay.
