This glass piece was casted in sand covered in cling film which creates this plastic like pattern that you can look into from the polished side of the glass. This piece is used to represent the plastic packaging that is used in ready meals and is placed in the plate as a reminder about the high amount of salt in ready meals.
The plate has raised edges to show that it is a plate made for a younger child and I made a grain like pattern to show that there is salt in the ready meal that could potentially be used in the plate. Because it's burnished it has a really shiny look to it which means that it is potentially a more interesting bowl to a young child rather than a matte plate.

Below is the plate with the glass piece placed in different places around the plate. I see this piece being used as an interactive piece where when food is put into the plate, you would try to eat around the glass piece with this spoon, however, the glass is a constant reminder of the high salt levels within the food.
The use of the spoon shows how big the glass is within the plate. I modelled the spoon using some air drying clay and took inspiration from my sketchbook where I had sketched some cutlery designs.
