The theme of the project for Cor Unum is play. I furthered my creative practice by looking at movement within ceramics that accompany this theme. I made material samples out of ceramics that answered the different technical questions I had about the piece as well as seeing how the piece would look visually. This project furthered my practice as I was using material samples to answer questions about how the user will interact with the piece. Normally I’ve focused on the visual aspects and use of the piece and not the movement and interaction the user has to do to use the piece. In the future, I want to see how movement can be used within ceramics and looking at how a ceramic piece can change the way a user interacts with other objects, for example, this piece is essentially a pen pot, but it is storing pencils and different stationery pieces in a different way through slotting pieces. In my opinion, this project has furthered my practice by looking at different ways someone can interact with a piece.
