Photos 1-3 : Digital Transfer on the Ducks
Photo 4 : Unfired slipcast duck
Photo 5&6 : Glaze on duck without firing
I slip casted some ducks using a slip cast mould made out of plaster. I think that my pieces could have been improved by being glazed which I need to have more practice of and will do in future projects. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to put the duck from photos 1-3 in the kiln to get fired but if it did I would want to see the shine of the digital transfer compared to the matte of the duck. When I added glaze to the blue duck in photos 5 and 6 it got glaze stuck to the bottom which didn't come off so I was unable to put it in the kiln, however, I liked the pattern on the duck but would've preferred it to be glazed and will improve my glazing work. Although I enjoyed using the slip for casting as it made hollow pieces which I thought were quite interesting, I preferred using press moulds as I was able to make the pieces quickly. Going forward, I will use both processes in the future to create pieces either to add on to a bigger piece that I make in the future or to create objects that I want to be hollow.
